"One of the U.K’s best kept blues secrets, the follow up to his debut album 'Blues Boy' further showcases the man's talent with an acoustic guitar." "His renditions of gospel , blues , and soul classics includes one of the finest cover versions of Robert Johnson’s 'Come on in my Kitchen'." "Despite this, the original songs such as the playful skit 'Pigs might fly' and the more intense 12 bar 'Don’t you worry' hold their own in such exalted company and Crawford’s liquid slide and picking style has such vigour you’ll be playing it to any fool who claims the blues is dead." |

"Lipscomb’s 'Freddie', Tampa Red’s 'Sell my monkey' and Hurts 'Pay day' stand out as high points of the cover material on this set from the Westcountry bluesman. He clearly loves his craft having perfected his rendering of these cherished pieces." "We have to wait until track five for the first Crawford penned title, and too long a wait it is too given the simple beauty of 'Sugar Cane'. Along with the humorous 'Pigs might fly', and the soul inspired 'Don’t you worry', the closing title track 'When the rains came' is another display of touching simplicity set in an original gospel song." "Jim is an impressive song writer. He is also a purveyor of accessibility, opening up classic acoustic material." |

I first recorded this album of songs back in '98. It was well received, but as time went by I thought I ought to have another stab at it. "People Get Ready", "Grinnin' In Your Face", "River Jordan", and "Blues Boy" are the original versions, the rest of the tracks are more recent recordings. My good friend and harmonica virtuoso Ian Briggs features on the Brownie McGee penned track "Walk On". |
